This is common remedy to the nagging problems between the couples. Although people are carefully considering all factors before getting married, tendency to divorce is on the rise. It is no doubt that divorces are escalating than ever before. Divorce can result from any of the following three causes: changes in the duties of women, challenges in the liberalization and modernization as detailed in the texts below.
To start with, the most fundamental cause of escalating divorce rate is the dynamism surrounding roles and responsibilities of women. Earlier scenarios presented a biased family setting whereby husbands were supposed to be the sole bread winners. Society at large expected men to look for enough resources to meet the entire family needs. On the other side women would on be responsible for the execution of household chores. Therefore, women had no resources to meet their needs but to depend on their husband’s pockets. Similarity in the roles played by either of the spouse is an implicit aspect of the modern days. Women are currently in a position of earning their own money through working outside, while on the other side, men are participating in performing household duties such as hygiene maintenance, cooking and baby sitting. It is therefore inherent that women are becoming more and more independent. They can now meet their personal and family needs without the influence of men. Such irrelevances of men in the lives of some women are major cause of rising divorce rates.

Secondly, stresses in the modern daily living can be equally attributed to the rise in rates of divorce. Almost every individual living in this era of modernization and globalization is under pressure to get sufficient resources especially money to help in supporting their families. More stress is experienced with the coming of children. Although every couple have a desire of reproducing, offspring come with additional mouth to feed, body to clothe and many other needs of fostering life. As an illustration, pupils desire joining famous schools with an aim of qualifying to be admitted in prestigious universities. This is so because there is a general belief that studying in a well known institution would guarantee good job and consequently handsome wage. Such pressures from children are putting the parents at a stressful life. Spouses of weak heart can easily throw in the towel as a result of this. A permanent way of avoiding stress is leaving marriage through divorce. Therefore there is a direct relationship between rising stresses of modern life and divorce rate (Hernandez 1993).
Finally, poor communication between husband and wife is causing divorce big time. Due to economic status of the families, both parents are preoccupied with activities of amassing for wealth. Therefore everyone has limited time of talking out challenges facing their marriage. Accumulation of unsolved problems however small they are is catastrophic to harmonious marriage.
Accumulated challenges culminate in high tendency of divorce. On the other hand some people opt to remain silent despite going through a hell in their marriage. As a result, small problems can rise to appear like huge monsters mauling a family. An ultimate result of such unsolved difference is divorce. It is therefore evident that intensified communication effort reduces chances of divorce occurring.
The above mentioned causes of increased divorce rates are not the only ones but only the most outstanding ones. Additionally, there are resulting effects of escalating divorce rates. Such effects can be discussed in two broad perspectives: positive and negative.
First, there are some desirable consequences of divorce. Spouses seeking divorce with the knowledge of their partners are definitely looking for better ways of living. Because they might be discontented with the current spouse, filing a divorce case is the best way out of what would be life-long stress. Everlasting elimination of family feuds through divorces offer enormous opportunity of restored happiness and contentment. Efficiency in work place will definitely be realized due to the resultant stability in the mind. Divorce will not only allow for more unoccupied time to do other things but also freedom from spouse’s murmurs. Moreover, divorce eliminates chances of violent attacks among discontented spouses thus enabling mental and physical health to thrive. Children are the most beneficiaries of divorce in this line of thought.

Secondly, rise in the number of successful divorce cases has its own disadvantages. As nature would have it, most couples get children in the process of living together. As a result divorce is detrimental to children normal development. Whoever will take the custody of the children the fact remains the same that they are not living with both of their parents. There are several challenges facing children brought up by a single parent. They are more vulnerable to early pregnancies, school drop out, abuse of drugs and general emotional and behavioral instability. Long term results of such juvenile misconduct are nagging social problems including rise in crime rate. Due to dilemma of choosing which parent to follow some children may decide to just run away from home and thus becoming homeless. Lack of emotional support and inherent hatred between children and separated parents will in the long run affect married lives of the single parent children (Clarke-Stewart and Brentano 2007).
In conclusion, family remains an integral unit of society. Stability in society at large is directly related to good relationships within constituent families. This stability has been put on jeopardy by substantial increase divorce rates. It is important for both husband and wife to consider effects of imminent divorce before giving in to it. If divorce is going to solve their nagging problems without posing more challenges to either of the spouse or children then it should proceed. Otherwise, if there are going to be more problems than solutions realized then decision to divorce must be reconsidered.
