Introduction

In biological research, stem cells are very critical in propagation and development of new strains and forms of the organism and plants. This research paper will give the type and functional importance of the stem cells. They are essential in that they are basic units of reproduction or development of new species and generations. The research paper also points out the processes and stages of changes of the stem cells and their importance in the production of species. Stem cells have the potential to develop into a variety of cell types in the plants or human body at the early stages of life growth and development. Stem cells are important in our tissues because they divide rapidly to replace any damaged cells and tissues of an organism.

Discussion

Stem cells divide in the body of an organism without control or limit to replenish any damaged, lost, or worn out cells forming a basis of repair. These biological cells are found in every multicellular organism, where they can divide through the process of mitosis and can differentiate to varied, specialized types cell. They can also self renew to produce many stem cells for further cell division (Scholer 34). For example, in mammals there are two types of stem cells, which are the embryonic stem cells, isolated from the inner cell mass of the blastocysts. There is also another category called the adult stem cells found in various tissues of mammals. The progenitor cells and stem cells in mature organisms, stem cells play the role of a repair system of the body that has been replenished in tissues of adult (Scholer 28). For the developing embryo, the stem cells always differentiate to all the specialized cells of the adult, though they also maintain the balanced turnover of regenerative organs, like blood, intestinal tissues, and skin.

During the mitotic division of stem cell, every new cell has the potential to develop to a specialized cell or remain as a stem cell. Some that develop to specialized cells with more specialized functions include the muscle cells, cells of the brain or the red blood cells/ erythrocytes of the born marrow. Stem cells form the basis of cell division and specialization in the tissue of an organism where they are central to survival and replenishment of tissues and cells. They have two distinguishing characteristics, which make these cells different from other cells of the tissues (Siminovitch and McCulloch 327). They have the capability of renewing themselves through the mitotic division in cell division because they are unspecialized cells. In the tissues of organisms, there are two types of stem cells, which are the embryonic cells and the somatic or adult cells. They divide without limits as long as an organism is alive. The research paper attempts to give an insight into these essential components of life.

They renew their nature through cell division after a longer period of inactivity. In addition, stem cells can be induced to become organ or tissues cells having specialized functions. This can occur under some special experimental and physiological conditions. There are some organs like the born marrow where cells are damaged rapidly. Stem cells in this parts divide regularly to replace the damaged cells like in the gut and born marrow (Ron 67). There are other organs like the heart where stem cells divide under some special conditions. It is scientifically proven that not all stem cells divide always but depends on the circumstances of cell division.

Conclusion

Stem cells are important in the organism’s tissues because they divide rapidly to replace any damaged cells and tissues. Stem cells have the potential to develop into a variety of cell types in the plants or human body at the early stages of life growth and development. The division of stem cells is through mitosis, and the process of cell division occurs differently in different organs. Stem cells have distinctive characteristics that distinguish them from other cells.
